God of the poor: the mystery of god in latin american liberation theology
In this work, Victorio Araya offers a perspective on mystery of God from the underside of history" - from the viewpoint of the poor and oppressed who struggle daily for a liberation to the justice of God's kingdom. Drawing on the writings of many of the foremost liberation theologians (Gustavo Gutierrez, Jon Sobrino, Leonardo Boff, Clodovis Boff, and Enrique Dussel, among others) Araya presents a concept of God as the God of the poor. He first elucidates the hermeneutic key for this view of God, then goes on to a treatment of the manifestation of the mystery of God through Jesus and through the suffering, love, and solidarity of the poor, then to a discussion of the demands of a faith in a God of the poor: the praxis of love and justice. God of the poor concludes with an examination of the basic content of liberation theology's view of God and the reasons for the reasons for what this theology says and where it intends to go."
